A revised edition of one of the two classic books on telescope making the other being Jean Texereau's How to make a telescope. While nowhere near as comprehensive as Texereau it contains enough information for a beginner without the mathematics or being frightening. The section on fibreglass components is excellent and the Stellafane website has a wealth of information to fill in the gaps in Howard's book. I found the section in Howard's book on the accuracy of figuring, ie how far from perfect you can be and still have it work well, to be it's weakest point but no longer a problem if you have access to the Stellafane site with it's articles and software.
